Renew Your Home

A guide to understanding your home’s energy potential

Energy that revolves around you.

What once seemed futuristic or alternative is now accessible, reliable, and beautifully simple.

The technology now exists for every home to become more self-sufficient — from its electricity supply to its heating source. Becoming its own clean power station, generating, storing, and intelligently managing energy directly from the sun, while also taking energy from the air and turning it into heating for your home.

It means stepping away from fossil fuels forever — for power, for warmth, for driving and experiencing a level of independence that feels profoundly liberating.

What actually makes a home self-sufficient?

At its simplest, a modern home energy system brings together on-site electricity generation, energy storage, renewable heating, and intelligent control, designed to work holistically as one.

When these elements are balanced, a home can potentially reach Zero Energy, producing as much energy over the year as it uses. We measure this using a simple Zero Energy Building (ZEB) score, rated out of 10, which shows how close a home is to true self-sufficiency.

In practice, homes still remain connected to the grid. But the relationship changes. Instead of total dependence on the grid, the home becomes an active participant to the grid, generating, storing, and managing its own energy at point of use, and drawing from the grid only when needed.

As more homes adopt this approach, they form a connected web of self-generating, self-balancing systems, where energy flows through communities rather than from a single source. Over time, something remarkable happens: the grid begins to rely on the people, rather than the people relying on the grid. Acting as a grid solution, home renewables work with the grid, helping to balance demand at peak times, improve resilience, and create a cleaner, more stable energy system for everyone.

Electricity generation

Solar gives your home the ability to generate its own electricity directly from sunlight. Instead of relying entirely on imported power, energy is produced on site using what’s called Solar Photovoltaic (PV).

During the day, this electricity can supply your home in real time, powering appliances, lighting, and technology as they’re used. When production exceeds demand, that energy doesn’t go to waste, it can be stored for later, or exported to the grid, becoming part of a broader energy system. Your exported energy gets shared with your community, meaning local energy for your island, produced by you, which you are rewarded for.

Generating electricity at home reduces exposure to rising energy costs, supports the wider network, and turns your roof into an active contributor to the economic prosperity of the island and a weapon against climate change. Significantly, energy independence for self, leads to an energy independent island, reducing reliance on imported energy.

Battery storage

Batteries allow your home to store the energy it produces.

Rather than exporting all your surplus electricity, it can be stored and used for later when there’s no sun, extending the value of your own generation into the evening when energy is often most in demand. Doing so gives you greater self-sufficiency and a feeling of even greater self-empowerment.

Combined with solar and intelligent control, energy storage helps shift your home from being dependent on the grid to working with it. A grid-services solution, helping the island grid particularly at peak use period, increasing resilience during moments of grid stress.

Other solutions are battery back up, called a NanoGrid.

A NanoGrid allows a home to continue generating, storing, and intelligently using its own energy even if the grid goes down. So your home stays powered by solar and batteries rather than everything switching off. Giving true energy resilience. Life uninterrupted.

Alongside Solar and Battery Storage, a technology just as impressive will deliver further energy independence. When paired with solar, the results are profound.

Renewable heating and hot water
Heat pumps unlock heat from the air surrounding your home.

Even on extremely cold days, the outside air is full of energy. A heat pump captures that energy and transfers it into warmth for your home and hot water. The electricity it uses doesn’t create heat, it simply enables the transfer.

The result is powerful. For every unit of electricity consumed, a heat pump can deliver three to four units of usable heat. This isn’t just efficiency, it’s energy multiplication!

This is why heat pumps are fundamental to energy independence. With a heat pump, most of your heating energy comes from the air, an ever-present, renewable source that is surrounding your home.

When paired with solar, the effect compounds. Electricity generated on your roof powers the heat harvested from the atmosphere. One energy source unlocks another. Power and heating begin to work together, dramatically reducing reliance on purchasing energy.

Designed alongside battery storage and intelligent control, this layered approach allows a home not only to generate electricity, but to generate its own heat too, quietly and continuously.

A heat pump is not just efficient, see it as a second form of energy generation.

The air around your home becomes your energy source.

You can be your own source of power.

What Energy Independence looks like in reality

All of this sounds abstract until you can see it working in a real home.

That’s where visibility matters. Seeing it in practice,

Below is a short clip of a live status of a system during night time on 2nd December 2025, it’s been a great day of energy generation, and the battery is fulfilling the home’s energy needs:

There’s always a constant interplay based on the consumption of the home. During the day, if solar energy is abundant, the battery will remain on stand by. If clouds come in and solar production drops, the battery will balance out with the energy generation to fulfill what is required in the home. This is what’s called self-consumption mode.

You can also view stats of how your system has performed that day, week, year or life-time. You can switch on your battery to charge overnight during the low-rate period, handy in the winter periods when there is less sun.

**Caution** “Solar Geek-Mode” will be activated, you may become obsessed, shake your fist at the sky when the sun disappears, and everyone you come into contact with will be sick of you showing your solar stats! :)

The app is designed to be clear and elegant in design. Rather than overwhelming users with technical detail, it shows energy as something simple and understandable, flowing into and through the home.

For many people, this visibility is where the energy transition stops feeling abstract and starts feeling real. But also it helps you manage your energy use, so you make the most of your free energy. Over time, small changes in habits naturally align with when energy is most abundant, without effort or sacrifice. Switching on appliances in relation to your energy generation or understanding how much energy you have to play with maximises your independence and your savings.

Thinking in solutions

The move towards a greater energy independent home doesn’t have to be extreme or disruptive.

It doesn’t mean going off-grid or cutting ties with the energy network altogether. For most homes, staying connected provides flexibility, resilience, and peace of mind. Also, we believe we are stronger as a community if we all share our energy and work together.

It also doesn’t mean constant monitoring or managing complex systems. Once designed correctly, everything runs quietly in the background, adapting automatically to how the home is used.

And switching to renewable heating doesn’t mean compromising on comfort. Homes become warmer, more consistent in temperature, and easier to live in, not harder.

And it doesn’t mean having to do everything at once, or even at huge scale.

Many homes evolve over time, starting with one part of the system and building toward greater independence as needs, budgets, or plans grow.

For most people, the energy transition is not a leap. It’s a series of well-considered steps, and we can guide you on your way.

Guiding you through your personal energy journey.

From initial consultation to design and final commission– we’re here every step of the way for you to discover how renewable energy can shape your lifestyle, now and into the future.

1

Initial Consultation & Survey

Your home is more than walls and a roof — it’s where life happens. Every home is unique, so there’s no one-size-fits-all. From the first survey, we focus on your current and future needs, your aspirations, and how you use energy. We look at the bigger picture — heating, running costs, sunlight on your roof, and battery or heat pump placement.

If you’re unsure, we guide you through the options, explain the technology clearly, and help you choose the right path.

2

Design & Quotation

Aesthetics matter. Performance matter. We design panel, battery and heat pump placement to complement your home’s architecture, without interrupting it.

Our proposals include custom designs, predicted generation, system specs, and savings over time. We do Zero Energy Building scores, to find out your energy impacts and results. We do advanced assessments such as heat-loss calculations and M² load assessments to understand your building’s energy needs.

The world has always been powered by the sun.

For over a century, our civilisation has been fuelled by burning the past — coal, oil, and gas, each one a fragment of ancient sunlight trapped underground. But the truth is, we’ve always had the real source above us. We just forgot to look up.

Solar energy has become the fastest-growing source of power on Earth — clean, abundant, and unstoppable.

This is more than a technological shift — it’s a cultural one.
It’s about freedom and liberation.
It’s about resilience, independence, and empowerment.
It’s about turning sunlight into sovereignty.

And so, this is our why…

To Renew the Earth — by returning to the source, and reclaiming the power that was always there.
