1 —— The Architecture of Energy

Our approach to integrating solar while preserving the beauty of the home.

Solar is no longer something that just sits on top of a home. When designed properly, it becomes part of the architecture itself.

We believe energy systems should respect the character of the building they belong to.

Sometimes that means building panels directly into the roofline so they sit flush with the structure. In other cases it means carefully positioning panels so they align with the geometry of the building. Occasionally the solution lies elsewhere on the property entirely, such as garden pergolas or discreet structures that preserve the visual integrity of the home.

The goal is always the same.
Solar energy, designed with care for the building it belongs to.

Design First

Before a single panel is installed, the design begins with the building and the client’s vision.

Panels are aligned with the geometry of the roof so the array feels balanced and intentional. From the pitch, roofline, chimneys or dormers, to the orientation. All of these factors influence how solar should fit with the building. Rather than forcing technology onto the architecture, we study these elements carefully and design a layout that works with them.

In some homes this means flush in-roof systems that sit neatly within the roofline. In others it involves carefully positioned on-roof panels that work in harmony with the structure.

Building Integrated Solar

Built directly into the roof structure, these systems replace traditional roofing tiles, allowing the solar array to sit flush within the roofline creating a solar roof.

  • The result is a clean architectural finish where the technology becomes part of the building itself.

  • On new roofs, the solar panels also replace a large portion of traditional roof tiles, reducing the need for so many tiles.

  • The panels themselves are engineered for durability, creating a roof designed to handle Guernsey’s strong winds, particularly in exposed coastal and clifftop locations.

On-Roof PV

In many homes, the best approach is a carefully composed on-roof array.

By aligning panels precisely with the geometry of the roof, the system feels ordered and intentional, becoming part of the roof’s design rather than something simply added.

Black-framed or terracotta panels, combined with considered layout, allow solar to integrate comfortably with the architecture, whether modern or historic.

Solar Beyond the Roof

Not every home benefits from rooftop solar. In these cases we explore alternative locations such as garden arrays, garages, or outbuildings.
