How long do Solar Panels last?

Most premium manufacturers now offer two separate warranties:

  • Product warranty, usually 15 to 25 years, some as much as 30 years, covering defects in materials and workmanship

  • Performance warranty, usually 25 to 30 years, guaranteeing a minimum output level over time

Solar PV panels installed today will likely still operate well beyond their warranty periods. Potentially decades beyond.

Panels slowly lose a small amount of output each year, typically around 0.3 to 0.5 percent annually, which means most high-quality panels still operate at 85 to 90 percent of their original performance after 25 years.

In real terms, this means a well-installed solar system is not a short-term upgrade, it becomes a long-term energy asset for your home.
