Solar generation does not rely on having a south-facing roof. While south is still the most productive orientation, east and west roofs are also highly effective, either on their own or combined. An east–west setup is often ideal because it spreads generation evenly across the day as the sun moves from morning to evening.
Thanks to the latest high-efficiency solar panels becoming more powerful and more affordable, north-facing roofs can now also perform very well, especially when used as part of a wider system alongside south, east, or west facing panels.
Combining multiple roof orientations at the same time is extremely effective and delivers strong, balanced generation throughout the day.
